What's in the pipeline?

Last year when Belgrave Community Arts Partnership had held only one lantern workshop and had a membership of two, we organised a fairly spontaneous event for International World Peace Day 2006.

To plant a seed for our vision of transforming Belgrave Town Park  into the Belgrave World Peace Park a group of about 10 community members gathered at 8.30am and 4.30pm under the rotunda to talk about Peace - both personal and global - light lanterns and candles from the World Peace Flame, and sit in stillness

With this simple gathering we joined more than 3500 other Peace Day events in 200 countries (including all 192 member nations of the United Nations) to help hold the vision for a CULTURE OF PEACE.

"PEACE is more than
the absence of war.
It is about transforming
our societies
and uniting
our global & local community
to work together
for a more peaceful,
just, and sustainable world
for ALL." *

On Saturday 15th of September BCAP held a day for the Hills Community to come together to create the ART of PEACE, in the form of water colour/ pastel posters, and prayer flags. Then on Friday the 21st of September the Peace Art was taken to the Belgrave Town Park for an International Day of Peace ceremony.

We would love it if you could mark these dates in your diary and come join us in PEACE.

"Every Peace Day event provides an opportunity to inspire
and empower communities
to celebrate victories for peace
that have been won throughout the year,
and to rededicate our commitment
to work for a more peaceful,
just and sustainable world
all year long."
